In recent years, digital technology has brought transformative changes across multiple sectors, and adult social care is no exception. As these technologies continue to evolve, they provide opportunities that improve the quality of care and support and operational efficiency within the sector.
At the inception of Glassmoon Services, we were fuelled by many ideas, poised to redefine human services with a fresh perspective. We started with a blank piece of paper and imagined the art of the possible as we innovated new ways of working and running human services.
Our Guiding Principles
From the very beginning, and still today, we are anchored by a guiding principle: the need to be deeply human, tech-enabled, and future-ready (Digital, Data & Devices – the 3Ds). In a post-COVID world, where technology became indispensable for services continuity, amid unpredictable changes, our vision has never been more relevant.
Embracing the 3Ds: Digital, Data, and Devices
Before we even launched our first service, we adopted the concept of the 3Ds—Digital, Data, and Devices. Our leadership team’s passion for technology drives our efforts in establishing a solid foundation with robust standards in cybersecurity, data protection, and the implementation of digital systems for care planning, scheduling, and record keeping.
Improving Experiences Through Data
As our “Team around the Person” model evolves, we continuously collect data to gain a more nuanced and granular understanding of the people we support and how to improve their day-to-day experiences. Whilst also creating a meaningful way to use the data to support our teams in their quality of care and support, their productivity in entering data directly onto a digital system and not losing vital information on bits of paper!
We use photos and videos to capture the stories, memories and life-enhancing experiences the people we support have in building their lives in a community-based setting and we use video calling to help keep them in touch with loved ones.
Investing in a Data-Driven Future
With our foundation set, Glassmoon Services is now poised to welcome a passionate data analyst. This role is to help us with our social return on investment data, as part of our commitment to leveraging digitalisation to expand and improve our services for vulnerable adults. Additionally, as part of our ongoing commitment to meet and exceed reporting obligations to Commissioners within the Local Authorities (LA) and the NHS.
Collaborating for Sector-Wide Impact
Since our inception, we have reported to the Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS).
“Digital technologies have the potential to improve social care. They can extend the services on offer, giving people greater independence and control over their care and are proven to help support well-being. They can free up the time care workers now spend on administration tasks for more face-to-face care”.
Skills for Care – https://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Support-for-leaders-and-managers/Managing-a-service/Digital-technology-and-social-care/Digital-technology-in-social-care.aspx
Our commitment extends beyond internal improvements; we collaborate with Skills for Care (SfC) on data initiatives that benefit the wider sector. By partnering with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), we are part of the conversation to develop a digitally literate leadership and workforce, to transform the work for the future.
The digital revolution in adult social care is not just on the horizon—it’s already here. Embracing these technological advancements will not only improve care and support outcomes but also pave the way for a more empowered and independent future for those relying on social care services.
